manual proxy settings not set correctly
Hi,
Latest (2.6.2) version of Netsetman Pro on WinXP Home.
I've set up an alternative profile which has manual proxy settings set for HTTP/SSL/FTP/Socks (but not Gopher) in IE8 and firefox (3.5.5), but they're not working correctly. When I select that profile, firefox has the fields set for SSL/FTP & Socks, but not HTTP (it's blank) and is still set to "no proxy" anyway (should be set to "Manual proxy configuration"): IE8 appears not to be changed at all - the "use a proxy server..." check box is still unticked and all the proxy fields remain blank.
In firefox, when I go back to the main profile all the proxy fields are reset (i.e. empty), except Socks which remains filled.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks!

Re: manual proxy settings not set correctly
I should add that IE and firefox are both selected appropriately, I do have admin rights, and running with/without the service makes no difference.
Everything looks fine in settings.ini, which is to be expected since it also looks fine the the NetSetMan user interface :)
Cheers.

Re: manual proxy settings not set correctly
Well, to be honest, I don't have a solution here. Until now, whenever I got a message concerning problems with proxy settings the problems went away by themselves.
Of course there are a couple of things that might help:
- Do you have any other proxy related programs or FF Add-Ins that might interfere here?
- Try deactivating your security programs as a test just to verify that your e.g. anti-virus app doesn't block internet related changes.
IE:
After applying the profile go to the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
and extract it to a reg file. (You can leave out or remove all subfolders from the file, if you like)
Please send me this file so I can have a look.

Re: manual proxy settings not set correctly
Hey I have the same problems. My configuration is windows 7 Pro 64 bit and NetSetMan 2.6.3 Professional with the NSM Service 1.1.0
I have looked in the Registry while changing the config, there are no changes after the switching. But changing of start page works.
Hope you have any Ideas.
Best regards

Re: manual proxy settings not set correctly
To be honest, I forgot to test the new, reworked proxy feature with the NSM Service. Now that you're writing this, I think you have the problem because of that. Could you please deactivate the service and try again? If it works for you without the service, I'll release a fix this week.

Re: manual proxy settings not set correctly
Hey,
now I have tested it. When I stop the service and Restart NSM then it Works. So I think ist really a problem of the service.

Re: manual proxy settings not set correctly
2.6.4 fixes my IE problems described in the first post of the thread, thanks. I'm not running the service though, so I'm not sure why!
FF still doesn't work, the problem remains exactly as first described. It's a shame because I use FF almost exclusively
"- Do you have any other proxy related programs or FF Add-Ins that might interfere here?" --- No, nothing. As described previously, the settings partly work which suggests to me that NSM isn't being "blocked", it's just not working properly. I wonder if it's something silly like having a blank gopher field... will give it a try sometime.
"- Try deactivating your security programs as a test just to verify that your e.g. anti-virus app doesn't block internet related changes." --- Done, and no difference whatsoever.
I'm pretty computer savvy, but I've run out of ideas
