My network device not recognized
Hello!
I would like NetSetMan to set my DNS-Servers for my Internet connection.
I'm connecting through a VPN-dialup to the Internet but NetSetMan doesn't recognize it.
Manually setting the Servers works.
The one named xDSL I want to change through NetSetMan.
Thank you!

Re: My network device not recognized
Does that virtual adapter have an IP(v4) protocol isntalled? What do you see if you right-click ist and choose "Properties"?
Also make sure to press "Refresh" at a time when that adapter is activted. Not active adapters are currently not being recognized.

Re: My network device not recognized
Yeah, IPv4 is installed:
Refresh doesn't help although I'm connected through that adapter to the Internet.
Do you need more info like an ipconfig log?

Re: My network device not recognized
Well, it's strange that this one is not showing up in the NICs list. I now created an alternative way to get all available NICs. It's slower than the default one but it also gets deactivated and virtual devices. I think this should help you. However, this feature will be released with the next big update in the beginning of January. Hopefully you can bridge the time gap somehow.

Re: My network device not recognized
Okay, thank you!
I could also test the internal beta version if you wish :-)

Re: My network device not recognized
Hello Ilja,
I just downloaded the all new version 3 in hope that my adapter gets detected now.
Unfortunately Advanced Refresh still doesn't find my xDSL adapter:
I'm using NetsetMan in portable mode. Can this be the cause for it?
Best regards

Re: My network device not recognized
Well, then unfortunately I have to say I'm sorry, I'm out of ideas concerning this problem.
The new refresh method gets all adapters that Windows declares to be configurable network adapters.
Is it possible that your xDSL adapter is listed as VirtualBox Host-Only Network? (simply another name for some reason but the correct adapter?)
I'm using NetsetMan in portable mode. Can this be the cause for it?
No, that makes no difference.
If you like you can give me a step-by-step instruction how to set up that virtual adapter. Then I'll try to reproduce the problem somewhen at a later point. But this might take some time, because I'd like to finish some other things first.

Re: My network device not recognized
Thanks for your answer!
No unfortunately it's not the virtualbox adapter.
Here the step-by-step instruction how to setup the desired adapter:
- open network and sharing center
- click on "setup a new connection or network"
- choose "connect to a workplace"
- next when asked "do you want to use a connection that you already have?" select "No, create a new connection" (This only appears when I'm disconnected from the internet. So this is like I'm doing my first time setup for using the internet)
- next select "Use my Internet connection (VPN)
- next select "I'll set up an Internet connection later"
- type in the ISP's given IP-address and choose a destination name
- fill in your ISP's login data
- now I also have to change some setting for the newly created connection in order to successfully connect to the internet
- now I'm good to go to use this newly created adapter to connect to the internet
I hope the steps were clear enough!
Thank you and best regards!
