netsetman 2.6.1. / Windows XP
After upgrading to 2.6.1. I am experiencing a problem. I am losing connection to the internet in a given network although the corresponding profile is set. By repeating the setting of that profile
the connection is restored, but lost again after varying times.

Re: netsetman 2.6.1. / Windows XP
Which was the last version you used? Do I get you correct, that the problem didn't occur then?
Actually there were no changes made regarding the IP functions since version 2.5.1 which is about one year ago.
And another important thing: After the IP settings have been applied, NetSetMan doesn't do anything else. It is neither monitoring, nor maintaining the applied settings. So if the problem occurs only after a while, it is more likely that the problem has another source.
As soon as you have the problem again, please check, if the correct IP is still present and set.
Please also have a look at other software that you've installed in the meantime. Losing the Internet connection after a while sounds like a DNS problem. Some applications like Apple software (iTunes, Quicktime, etc.) bring their own DNS Service ("Apple Bonjour") that can cause problems.

Re: netsetman 2.6.1. / Windows XP
Thanks a lot for your answer.
It happened again in different networks, I have checked whether the correct IP settings were still there when the problem occured; the answer is yes.
The only new software that I have installed recently is the upgrade from IE7 to 8 offered by Microsoft. I am using, however, Firefox which is also set as the standard browser. When looking at the settings for IE8 I found the automatic configuration of Lan settings (in Interenet options/connections/Lan settings) activated. It is mentioned there that the automatic detection may obstruct manual settings. I have the suspicion that this may be the reason for the problem. I deactivated this and will observe the effect.
best regards, UH
