Version2.4.1 on DELL D630 - no network controller will be detected
I have tried to install the NetSetMan Version 2.4.1 on two new Dell D630 Notebooks.
After installation, NetSetMan can't detect any Network controller.
If I click on the Button "Refresh", a small NetSetMan window with the following error message appears:
"Provider load failure"
Both Notebooks are using Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with Service Pack 2.
One Notebook use the German version the other one the English Version
Both Notebooks using the following network controllers:
- Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller and
- Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card
If I install the same Software to another DELL PC (Optiplex 320 with Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller) the Software operates without any problem the network controller will be detected without any problem.
If I use the Version 2.4.0 on the DELL D630 Notebooks, the Software operates without any problem too.
If I update an existing Version 2.4.0 with Version 2.4.1 on a Dell D630 Notebook, during the installation a message appears who inform me that the settings.ini must be transcribed.
After that, the error message "Provider load failure" appears too, and no Network controller will be detected.
Additionally to that Bug Report, I will send you an Email with some screenshots. If you need more Information about the Problem, just let me know
On German Support Forum another User describe a similar problem
(User = Weishaupt, report date = 2007-12-06 12:50)
Remark:
I have allready performed the Instuction from FAQ / Quick Help / My network adapters are not shown after clicking "Refresh".
Thanks in advance,
Rudi Rollmann

Re: Version2.4.1 on DELL D630 - no network controller will be detected
Please try the following two things (one by one, checking if it helped)
1. Run the service "Terminal Services" (Start > Run > "services.msc") - It should be set to "Started" and "Automatic".
2. Register the following DLL by typing this line into your console ("Command Line" or "Run"). You need Administrative privileges to do that. So maybe (especially under Vista) you'll need to right-click the cmd.exe and choose "Run as Administrator" before executing the code.
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wbem\ntevt.dll

Re: Version2.4.1 on DELL D630 - no network controller will be detected
First I have checked the "Terminal Services" (it is appointed right) and then I have executed the code.
After executed the Code successfully the problem still occurs.
If I click on the Button "Refresh", a small NetSetMan window with the following error message appears "Provider load failure"
Or if I use a German system the error message "Fehler beim Laden des Anbieters" appears.
Any other Idea?
Thanks in advance

Re: Version2.4.1 on DELL D630 - no network controller will be detected
Hi,
You tried unistalling the software and then install it again with V2.4.1? I would recommend that your copy the settings.ini and place it somewhere first since it contains info about what configuration saved for the software.
If it works, then try to replace the settings.ini file in the program directory and see if it works. If not then it could be that the settings.ini file is corrupted?? Worth a try.

Re: Version2.4.1 on DELL D630 - no network controller will be detected
I have already tried all possibilities.
If I use Version 2.4.0 everything is fine.
If I use version 2.4.1 the error occurs.
I have tried to using a new settings.ini and I have tried to using the settings.ini from 2.4.0 for 2.4.1.
If I using the "settings.ini" from Version 2.4.0, for 2.4.1 the error still occurs.
There must be a bug in version 2.4.1 and I still hope that this bug will be fixed.

Re: Version2.4.1 on DELL D630 - no network controller will be detected
Kind of a bug. In fact some standard service or setting is missing or was changed by another program so that the new function to find the network adapters fails in some cases. Nevertheless the new function is better than the old one because it can find even deactivated NICs or unplugged ones (important for Vista).
I haven't found out what the actual problem is. My latest suggestions didn't show any effect. I'll still try to find out what can be done. If I don't find it out then the next version will first try the new function and if it fails the old function will do it automatically without bothering the user. It's more a workaround, so I'm currently not very happy with it but even only a few people have problems with the new function it should be somehow corrected.
For now I would recommend to you to use the old version (2.4.0) if you have problems with the new one.

Re: Version2.4.1 on DELL D630 - no network controller will be detected
Thank's for the Freeware 2.40 version, but if I'm right, only the Pro version is able to manage Domains, no ? So, I should need the Pro version...

If you are a registered customer send me a message with your request from your email account which you used for the order. I will then send you the old Pro version.
