I'm working on my Thinkpad E15 on the internal monitor (1920x1080) with a personal scale factor (maybe 115%).

We cannot explain why this is happening in your case. We had to do lots of workarounds regarding toolbars and high-dpi settings, because of multiple incompatibilities of components with scaling. But with all those modifications it is working fine on all our test systems. We only see that in very specific constellations the size of toolbar buttons might become incorrect when moving the application between screens with different scaling. This is currently out of our hands and we need to wait for an official fix of the components we are using. This might also solve the problem in your case, since the result is similar to what we see with differently scaled screens.
