BUG REPORT - v.5.0.1 causing Windows failure
Hi,
Windows 10 Pro - 20H2 - x64
Previous NetSetMan Free version: 4.7.2 (Great software!)
updated to new NetSetMan Free version: 5.0.1
* Ran installation executable downloaded from official site.
New version 5.0.1 causes FULL FAILURE of WINDOWS TASKBAR including START MENU & SYSTRAY !!!
FULL UNINSTALL OF NEW VERSION (by Revo Uninstaller) restores Windows Taskbar & Systray's functions.
*So, ran reinstallation executable previous version: 4.7.2 and done again configuration.

Re: BUG REPORT - v.5.0.1 causing Windows failure
Could this have just been some kind of coincidence? This is the only bug report of this kind so far and actually there should be no technical reason for such a problem. NetSetMan doesn't do anything special with the taskbar except add a normal tray icon.
Could you please perform a Windows reboot and then reinstall NetSetMan 5.0.1 and check if the problem occurs again?

Re: BUG REPORT - v.5.0.1 causing Windows failure
Forgot to say I already made four times install, full uninstall, reboot and reinstall version v.5.0.1 with same bad result (whole Windows taskbar failure), before returning at last successfully to previous version.
Maybe a conflict with other programs on Systray of THIS PC ?
Note I have several other PCs running Windows 10 PRO 20H2 x64 or x32 on which upgrade was done to new version without any problem.
V.5.0.1 is great software again on these other PCs. Thanks.

Re: BUG REPORT - v.5.0.1 causing Windows failure
To be honest, we are out of ideas at the moment. Without some kind of error message or other users who are affected, we don't really know where to start looking.
Would it be possible for your to do some testing and research on the affected system yourself? For example, you could close other applications one by one, and try it again after each one. If it starts working normally, you could try to reproduce the problem with the last closed application. If you find something, we could try to reproduce the problem with that application, so we have the chance to fix this, even if it only affects you so far.

OK, well explained, Thanks.
I shall test as suggested and reply when done.
On next days, cause many things in this PC' Systray and not so much time to do it just now !!!

Re: BUG REPORT - v.5.0.1 causing Windows failure
Good news. Conflict program easily found : "TV IR" from "Geniatech" (No more use for me !).
Once uninstalled, new install and config v.5.0.1: all OK.
Happy New Year.

Re: BUG REPORT - v.5.0.1 causing Windows failure
Thank you for sharing your results! We are glad to hear, that you we able to resolve this issue by uninstalling the other old software.
We don't know how this other application could conflict with NetSetMan, but we will keep this in mind in case some other user contacts us because of the same issue.
Even if this doesn't matter now, we would still like to see if we can reproduce this problem. Is there a free download available of that software and exactly that version you used?

Re: BUG REPORT - v.5.0.1 causing Windows failure
So sorry. TV IR source is lost. I can't remember where and how i got it. Just a glance to file properties before uninstall without regrets, showing "Geniatech". No more …
