Screen brighness changes

Win 10 64 v 1909
NetSetMan v 4.7.2

When I activate a set, my screen brightness changes to minimum. "High Performance" power plan is designated in System Settings section of NetSetMan set.  I checked my settings for High Performance power plan in Windows, and cannot find any setting for display brightness.

Re: Screen brighness changes

There are no functions in NetSetMan (Pro) that control the screen brightness. We have absolutely no clue why this might be happening to you. The only option that could cause this would be changing the power profile in the System settings dialog. But since you are sure, that no Additional settings are set, this isn't it. Please look in the activation log (can be opened at the bottom of the activation dialog) if you see some setting being activated that you didn't check.

Based on the purchase date of your license, you have been using this program for quite a while now. Is this problem new? Please try to analyze what changed on your system when you first started seeing this.

Re: Screen brighness changes

Please see my edit above.

The observed behaviour is intermittent. It has been going on for several months. I will try to figure out what the conditions are that cause it.

Meanwhile, i do not understand why when I am editing a particular set, I can add a sub profile for each network adapter, and each sub profile has distinct "Additional" settings. It doesn't seem like "System Settings" are unique to each network adapter.

Well, this is a new information. Previously you described that no settings in the Additional section are checked.
Then this is probably the reason. Uncheck it to see if it makes a difference.
Screen brightness is definitely part of a Windows power plan. But it might depend on your drivers where and how exactly to configure it. This is out of our hands.

Subprofiles are basically multiple profiles combined in one profile that can be activated at once.
The settings for each subprofile is exactly the same, so of course the Additional part is in each of them as well. This gives you the ability to fine-tune the activation order of the additional settings.

Re: Screen brighness changes

OK. The reason I originally reported that no Additional boz=xes were checked is that they weren't on the adapter I had selected. I had no idea that when i click on a different adapter i get unique Additional settings.

If I activate a profile which has multiple sub profiles, each sub profile with distinct System Settings, then which System Settings will take effect?

Each subprofile is activated one by one in the order as configured in the profile. You can see the activation steps and results in the Activation dialog.

If you configure the same setting to be changed in multiple subprofiles, then it will be changed exactly as configured multiple times during the profile activation. In most cases, it doesn't make sense to do that. But in specific cases, it might be useful. For example you could connect a network drive in the first subprofile, work with some files on that network drive with the Program/Script feature in the second subprofile and disconnect the network drive in the third subprofile.
