No tray popup on Windows 10

I have 2 licenses of NetSetMan Pro installed on two separate machines, both with Windows 10 1803.

On one machine, I don't get a pop-up when I hover over the system tray icon. I have checked Preferences, turned the tray info on and off, changed what tray info is shown, etc. But I can't get the tray icon pop-up to ever appear on one machine.

The tray icon works fine on my second machine and I get the detailed "tooltip" when I hover over the tray icon.

Re: No tray popup on Windows 10

We're hearing about this kind of problem for the first time now. Our recommendation would have been to disable all details to see if it works then, but apparently you've tried that already.

One other thing you could try, is to remove all network adapters from your Adapters Management list. The TrayInfo should then appear in the smallest form without any information in it. If it does, then add the NICs one by one again to see which one is causing the problem. If it doesn't appear even then, then there's no problem with the settings but something with the UI or the Windows API.
Please be aware, that by removing the NICs their connection with existing profiles might also get lost. So after adding the NICs again, please make sure to re-assign them in the profiles. Alternatively, backup the settings.ini file before your tests.

Do you have any applications running in front of all other windows ("always on top")? They might steal the focus of the cursor, so the TrayInfo isn't notified to be displayed. Please try to terminate other running applications and see if this resolves the problem.

Re: No tray popup on Windows 10

I have made some progress diagnosing this issue.

I have 2 ultra-wide monitors (res 2560x1080) on my PC with the tooltip problem. They are arranged side by side, with monitor 2 on the left and monitor 1 on the right, with a single continuous desktop that spans the 2 displays.

I have my taskbar on the Left edge of the Left display only.

If I configure my taskbar to be on the top or bottom of the left screen, I get the tooltip for NSM. If I put my taskbar on the left or right edge of the left screen, I do not get the NSM tooltip.

So perhaps the tooltip display issue has something to do with the nearly 21:9 aspect ratio of my monitors? In any case, the edge placement of the taskbar affects the ability of the NSM tooltip to display.

My other PC that does not have the problem has 1920x1080 displays, which is the normal 1080p aspect ratio.

I hope this information is helpful with your repro.
