Feature requests to NSM 4.1.4
I have some feature requests to NSM 4.1.4 in Windows 10 64 bit
1.
I am using Network Drive Manager from http://www.suncross.nl/ndm/ but I am looking for another product due to several reasons, mainly due to it’s not supported anymore.
NDM has an option to do a “network drive reconnect” for every x number of minute.
Reason: Before I used Network Drive Manager, I had the well-known problem with red crosses in my network drives. This means I was losing the connection to my NAS.
I have never seen the problem again after I started using NDM.
Suggestion:
Have an option in NSM to do a network drive reconnect” for every x number of minute.
2.
To backup all my data I am using CrashPlan, see http://www.code42.com/crashplan/.
Due to some technical reason in CrashPlan it cannot make backup from network drives, unless “cheating” the software to think it’s a local drive.
To do that, I am using yet another network manager program, named “Network Drive” from http://www.reasoft.com/products/networkdrive/. Here it’s possible to map a network drive as a local drive.
Suggestion:
Make it possible to map a drive as a local drive in NSM.
3.
Suggestion:
Make it possible to resize the windows of NSM.
Best regards
Peter Rasmussen

Re: Feature requests to NSM 4.1.4
1. The main purpose of NetSetMan is to allow switching between configuration profiles. Reconnecting a network drive every couple of minutes doesn't fit into this scheme and actually seems to be a workaround for a problem that should be solved somehow differently. The main question should be: why is your system losing the connection to your NAS? Is your NAS going into some kind of deep standby that Windows interprets as being turned off? Isn't there a possibility to turn this standby off, if you really want it to be active all the time?
2. We're actually planing to integrate this as part of the completely reworked Net Drive feature. Notice, that if you don't need to change that configuration frequently, you might want to simply create a symbolic link manually yourself: https://technet.microsoft.com/library/cc753194
e.g.:
mklink /d c:\networklocations\music \\nas\music
3. We're afraid, but this probably won't happen in the near future. We did a lot of experimenting with scaling the UI. But doing it right would mean to completely redesign many parts of the application, which is simply too much hassle for little reason. The UI serves it's purpose in a clean and structured layout and can be used in exactly the same way on all screen sizes. However, we made sure the UI is scaled properly with high-DPI settings (except for the Net Drive dialog which is going to be replaced anyway). In the next step we're going to scale all icons as well, so the UI fully adapts to all high-DPI/large-fonts settings.

Re: Feature requests to NSM 4.1.4
Concerning my suggestion no. 2, I just found out that, if I reinstall CrashPlan it's possible to install it as per user, and the it's possible to backup network drives. :-)
But I just have another suggestion to NSM:
When mapping drives, there should be an option to disable a mapping of a network drive temporary.
Example: I am testing a new profile, in that profile I am mapping five drives, and for that I would like to disable two of the five drives while testing the new profile.
Here it would be nice with an option to disable a single mapped drive.
Could be done by right-click on the drive and select enable or disable.
I know it's possible just to remove the drive letter to do this temporary disable of a drive, but then I have to write down what letter that I was using for that specific path.

Re: Feature requests to NSM 4.1.4
The new Net Drive feature will allow to connect and disconnect network drives individually.

Re: Feature requests to NSM 4.1.4
Would you like to try a private Beta release with the new Net Drive feature? We've completed it but still have to test it thoroughly. If you'd like to give us feedback on it, we'd be happy to hear it.
