Setting conditions in Auto Switch under Surrounding Wifi Network

First of all NSM is a fantastic product, thanks for innovating!

The ability to automatically switch between different networks with different settings is one of the main reasons I started using NSM in previous versions, but I had to switch manually much of the time. Auto Switch promises to fulfill my original requirements! However, I am having issues setting it up properly.

When setting conditions for different profiles using the Auto Switch settings dialog, not all Wifi networks are listed under 'Surrounding Wifi Network' options.

To further explain, I have five Wifi networks (SSIDs) saved as 'Wifi Profiles' under 'NSM Wifi Management'. When I go into the Auto Switch settings for each of my available profiles to try and set up conditions for Auto Switch to activate, the type of condition I try and use is 'Surrounding Wifi Network'. However, when I try and add a new condition (type: Surrounding Wifi Network), not all of my WiFi profiles are listed in the SSID drop-down menu.

For example, I want my profile 'Home 2.4GHz' to activate when the Wifi network with SSID 'funkymonkey' is in range, but the Wifi network 'crazymonkey' is at signal strength of less than 60%; however, 'crazymonkey' is not listed in the drop-down menus, and sometime 'funkymonkey' isn't either.

I can't set up my Auto Switch conditions with this bug. Is this a known issue?

Re: Setting conditions in Auto Switch under Surrounding Wifi Network

You can only link the WiFi networks to your profiles when those networks are currently in range. The selection list shows only the currently available networks, not your locally stored profiles. This is mainly due to the fact that the MAC address of the network is required. This information isn't available in your local profiles.

Re: Setting conditions in Auto Switch under Surrounding Wifi Network

Thanks for the prompt reply Ilja.

What you mention is interesting, because I do indeed see networks that are currently out of range listed in the drop down menu sometimes, but not all the time, and not all networks. If the drop down consistently listed only the currently available networks I would probably have assumed a network had to be in range in order to see it listed.

Thanks for the insight smile

The list of course also contains the networks that you've already linked previously to that profile. Otherwise they would be lost once you open the dialog at a location where those networks aren't available.

I've moved this topic from "Bug Reports" to "General Questions".
