Common Error
No network connections detected and when "Refresh" :ed you
get a splash from NetSetMan saying "Common Error".
I'am trying NetSetMan 2.2.2(freeware) first time and using
Windows XP Pro SP2 + all the latest updates, my network
connection is "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet card"

Re: Common Error
Please have a look at the fetched.txt and tell me what is inside after pressing "Refresh" and getting this error.
Does the error dialog tell you more than "Common Error"?
NetSetMan looks up all the connections available (also can be found in the "Network connections" in Windows) and checks if the IP protocol is installed for it.
Only those are listed in the combobox.

Re: Common Error
There is only "Common Error" in Finnish "Yleinen virhe" and
you mean that NetSetMan should look up all the network connection but in this case it is not finding my network connection!
My WindowsXP pro is in Finnish, any harm of that ?

Re: Common Error
Hello "RAA",
before shouting at me and insult a software you got for free you should consider to choose a real name and to register at this forum to show your authentic interest.
You asked a question I gave you an answer within one day.
Keep in mind that this fast service is absolutely free and voluntary.
The fact that NetSetMan is used by thousands and thousands of people all over the world, but is not working for you might bring up the idea that one (even small) thing might be wrong with your system.
This can be nearly everything. A wrong/erroneous/unofficial network driver, a security software that blocks access to system settings by third-party software or even a virus.
I am quite sure that if you installed a clean Windows on your PC (on a virtual machine or a second partition) NetSetMan would work.
So if NetSetMan does not work for you or you don't like it then simply just don't use it. It is just that easy. But don't get rude or ask for more attention than anybody owes you.

Re: Common Error
Having a similar issue. Testing NetSetMan 2.2.3 and anytime I hit the Refresh button, I get "Class not registered, ClassID:{76A64158-CB41-11D1-8B02-00600806D9B6}" and the interfaces aren't displayed. I checked the settings.ini file and the interfaces aren't listed (DeviceID=-1).

Re: Common Error
Please type in "ipconfig /all" in your dos window and have a look at the MAC address (physical address). Is there a correct entry or just zeros?
You can try the following three things:
Please make a system restore point to be able to get back to the current settings if something goes wrong.
1. There's a tiny tool called WinSock XP Fix 1.2. It helped me one with my network when I had big problems with it. Just run it and click "Fix". All protocols and registry settings are fixed automatically.
2. Re-/Install new drivers for your network adapter
3. Run Windows in secure mode and try it out again (both NetSetMan and "ipconfig /all") to see if it works then. If it does then its probably a problem with some installed software.
Try those points and have a look after each try if it helped so that it's clear which method can solve the problem problem.

Tried all of the above with no success. Still getting the same error. Any other ideas?
