Firefox proxy setting changes other settings unintended
Hi,
after activating a profile that changes the firefox proxy setting there are also other settings that are changed.
For Example:
1) Firefox will ask if it is allowed to send error reports to Mozilla
2) The Plugin WOT asks for first start settings again
From my point of view NSM does clear the already configured settings for this options when changing the proxy.
Best regards
Udo

Re: Firefox proxy setting changes other settings unintended
Hi,
I did some more research.
If you define a profil that disables all firefox proxy settings it does not only remove the proxy settings from prefs.js, but also kills everything that is behind the proxy lines in prefs.js.
This drops my prefs.js from 67k to 28k. Very bad :-(
I'm using NSM Pro 3.4.2

Re: Firefox proxy setting changes other settings unintended
everything that is behind the proxy lines in prefs.js
Are you talking about all lines coming after the lines concerning the proxy settings or do you mean that all the lines you're missing also begin with "network.proxy."?
The first case would definitely be a huge flaw, the second case however is intentional.

Re: Firefox proxy setting changes other settings unintended
All lines below the proxy settings are lost. Not only "network.proxy" lines.
Sorry for that :-)

Re: Firefox proxy setting changes other settings unintended
I wasn't able to reproduce the problem so far. Maybe we should first be more procice about your obervation ("If you define a profil that disables all firefox proxy settings").
What are your proxy settings exactly? Could you post a screenshot of the configuration Window?
What would help even more is the prefs.js file of your Firefox profile. Be aware that this file might contain some private information. If you have sensible information in there you can try to remove that sensible data (create a Backup first!) and sending me the file afterwards. However, if you modify the prefs.js file make sure that the problem stimm remains with that file. Thanks.

Re: Firefox proxy setting changes other settings unintended
I have created some files to send, but I need an email address to send to. I do not want to post it in the forum.
Maybe you can send me an email so that I can reply.
My mail address is in my forum profile.
In the zip file I created there are screenshots of the NetSetMan settings and the Add-Ons active in my Firefox.
I also have 3 prefs.js. Before executing the settings of NetSetMan, after the execution and after the first start of Firefox after changing the proxy settings. It seems that firefox is removing all the missing settings. Maybe because NetSetMan wrote some of the proxy settings to the end of the file instead of behind the other proxy settings.
Thanks.

Re: Firefox proxy setting changes other settings unintended
Thank you for the files. I was able to reproduce the problem and fixed it for the next version.
