Cannot set IPs on v3.4.2
Hi,
I've recently updated NetSetMan to version 3.4.2 (04-05-2012), but now it doesn't seem to work as usually...
See this image:
Once I "activate" my configuration, the screen logo on the left keeps blinking and both "Details" and "Log" seem OK. But it keeps blinking... and nothing happens.
Then I lose connection and my wireless card (in Network Sharing Centre) is now disabled, for no reason.
I have to reboot and everything seems ok. Then I repeat all the process above and everything happens once again.
Note that if I manually change my IPs using the Windows Interface (wirelss card Properties), it works. Only by using NetSetMan it completely loses configuration and then I have to reboot.
I'm on Windows 7 SP1 Professional 64bit, updated.
Thank you in advance, I use Netsetman everyday and I really hope you can fix this for me

Re: Cannot set IPs on v3.4.2
The log shows that the activation process hasn't been finished. The new IP activation method works in a way that it first sets the addresses and then updates the network adapter with the new configuration. Your screenshot shows that in your case the update process hasn't been performed. I'm not sure why not.
To solve this quickly you can switch to the old activation process (WMI) in the preferences.

Re: Cannot set IPs on v3.4.2
Thank you, it works like a charm.
Now the screen turns green.

Re: Cannot set IPs on v3.4.2
That's good to hear.
However, I'd be interested in finding the reason why the new method doesn't work for you. May I send you a debug version in about 1-2 weeks where I'll include some additional log output?
Until then: Could you please try out what happens if you set the option "Adapter" to "Restart" in the main window of NetSetMan? (uncheck all other settings in this profile). What's the result (log)?

This part would be required before the debug version. Thanks.

Re: Cannot set IPs on v3.4.2
Sorry, I missed the part "until then".
When I activate the profile which has only the "Adapter Status" option set to "Restart", the activation hangs and it shows the following log:
[0:00] Start: SET3 (18:01:14)
[0:00] Start: Ligação de rede sem fios
[0:00] Adapter found
[0:00] Adapter Status: Start
[0:00] Adapter Status: Restart
Then I lose my internet connection. The wireless adapter is now disabled. I cannot enable it. I have to reboot.
After I reboot, I can enable it. Then I repeat the configuration above, and all happens again. I have to reboot in order to be able to enable my wireless adapter.

Please try the new version 3.4.4 if it solves your problem.

Re: Cannot set IPs on v3.4.2
I was having exactly the same problem described on both windows vista & windows 7 64bit. This was especially noticable when using wireless interfaces.
Switching to old activation process (WMI) in the preferences worked on windows 7, but did not try on vista as of yet.
Just purchased the pro version after testing the free downloadable version. I wish I had browsed through the forums sooner, as I spent and inordinate amount of time troubleshooting this.
I'll keep you posted as the the stability of the product. I have some concerns about the stability of the product based on my hours of testing and using. Its a great utility which I hope will prove out so I can recommend to my customers.

Re: Cannot set IPs on v3.4.2
Switching from the old IP method to the new one was a big step. Therefore it's been tested in a beta test for over half a year. It has also been available to the public in the preferences as an alternative IP method (marked as beta).
The problems that have been reported after the official release didn't occur beforehand. Of course I'm very sorry about that. It's basically impossible to foresee every possible system configuration beforehand.
However, with the reports of the users the described problem was successfully found and fixed. If you use the latest version 3.4.4 (available since three weeks) the problem won't occur anymore!
