the return of error 84
I have been using NetSetMan for several months and it has worked just as it says it does. It has done what I needed it to do. I recently upgraded to 3.1.1. I am now seeing error 84 when it is trying to assign the dns address.
I have searched the forum and the web to see if I am the only person experiencing this problem. What I understand from this search is that the "problem" was addressed and fixed in a previous version.
I am running Windows 7 pro and Windows 7 home premium on two different machines. The NetSetMan service is also running on both machines. It first appeared when I was attempting to connect to a wireless network. I uninstalled NetSetMan from the pro machine, shut it down, reinstalled and it worked, the first time. The second and subsequent times it has failed. My home premium machine is exhibiting the same problem trying to connect to a network.
Any help in resolving this problem will be greatly appreciated.
THANKS in advance!

Re: the return of error 84
Error 84 means that the adapter is not connected at the moment. (You can see the error description by opening the log at the bottom of the activation window).
For proper results it should be connected during the activation of a profile.
However: This i a "green" error, which should actually make no problem. The DNS address is applied but the DNS server can't be notified about the new system (obviously because there's no connection).

Re: the return of error 84
THANKS for the reply.
I do not see how anyone can affect the connection of the adapter since it happens during the activation of a profile. This activation is controlled by the software program that is activating the profile.
I was never able to use the connection when it failed with this error. ipconfig shows that the network connection does not have the address of the DNS server. At that point it throws up it's hands and tells you so sorry, you can't get there.
The most effective solution I have found is to power cycle the machine.

By "adapter is not connected" I mean that the adapter is physically not connected. If it's a LAN adapter the cable needs to be plugged in and connected to the router, switch or whatever you're using. If it's a WiFi adapter it needs to be connected to a WiFi access point.
