network printers not showing

Hi,

trying to setup on an XP Pro machine.

users have access to network printers which are shared on a server.

(not actually installed on the local machine), only added to local machine as available printer.

however, in netsetman the network printers dont appear.

pdf printers, local printers etc appear.

did i do something wrong, like not read the manual properly...

thanks in advance

Re: network printers not showing

I'm very sorry for the very late reply. For some reason I lost sight of this request.

Actually NSM should list network printers as well. It has been successfully tested without any problems. However, I understand that there are always different circumstances that might lead to a problem like this. Would you mind describing step by step how you assign that network printer on your XP system? Maybe I can see the problem then.

Also please tell me if you're using NSM Service or not. (if you are, try if it works without just to make sure that that's not causing the problem).

Re: network printers not showing

No worries, we have just been going around the issue at the moment, and i totally forgot i created the post.

we have the printers installed across the active directory, so users goto add a printer, then select network printer, then click find, then the machine finds the printers on the network, and then they click the one they want to print to, and click add.
the printer is added, and then they can print.

makes no difference as administrator, i can get the printers there,
i will test it with the users that i have seen the issue on.

thanks for your reply again.
