Local Network becomes slow

I use Teamviewer to remotely transfer files between my desktop and laptop. When I don't use NetSetMan (the freeware version), I am able to transfer a 400 MB or 1 GB in under 10-15 minutes. I have installed NetSetMan to use it with a VPN connection, so when I switch from my VPN connection back to my regular connection, I noticed that the network gets very sluggish and the response time between the desktop and laptop via Teamviewer is very slow. When I transfer a file of the same sizes mentioned earlier, it now takes me 10 hours sometimes even a day. Is there a setting in NetSetMan wherein this will let my internal transfer of files go faster.

My desktop has Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and my laptop has Windows 7 Home (32 Bit) and that is why I use Teamviewer because the local remote desktop program will not work due to OS differences. Please advise.

Re: Local Network becomes slow

One thing up-front: NetSetMan only changes the settings as configured in a profile when that profile is activated. NetSetMan doesn't do anything outside of the profile activation. So if you notice a decrease in speed it's either caused by the previously applied settings or has a totally different source.

That said, you could try to activate the required settings manually and see if it makes any difference now. The important part would be to know which settings you are changing. Only IP/Gateway/DNS? Or are you also setting up routing tables, suffixes etc.? A network configuration can be a very complex thing, so for example a wrong DNS or routing table entry will cause your network packages to go a wrong route. And while your Teamviewer installation should usually be able to find the shortest route within your local network it might get confused with some settings constellations and route all your traffic through the internet, which will make it slower.
