Re: mac address

By mistake I deleted my posting belonging between the two previous postings. So here it is again:

The MAC address is a build in number/code in the network hardware device. It is not possible to change it.

Windows retrieves it and writes it into the registry (and some other places). It would only be possible to change those informations in Windows. But since they are reread regularly after a period of time, it would be necessary to check and change them regularly.

For the reasons that I don't know any essential or legal purpose and that the address must be observed all time, I won't include such a feature in NetSetMan.

I think your case is a very specific case.
But in fact I don't really understand why the allowed MAC can't be changes in the WLAN devices - If you forgot your password, just reset the router (or whatever).

I will keep that request at the back of my mind but I can already tell you that this feature won't be included in the next versions, because I don't want to blew the program with for most users unnecessary features.

But I want to point out again that the MAC address is not intended to be changed. So it had to be reread and overwriten regulary. Not very system friendly.
