Panda Antivirus blocks changes to hosts file
Hello,
i wanted a program like netsetman for a long time. Now i found the time installing the program. Version 2.5.2
My problem: when i ask netsetman to change the settings, My Antivirus program (Panda Antivirus) blocks changing of the hosts-file.
I try to exclude the program netsetman.exe from scanning, nevertheless the problem continues.
Are there any happy users who had the same problem and solved it?
if so? how did you do it?
thanks a lot

Re: Panda Antivirus blocks changes to hosts file
Is the rest (other settings) working normally?
If you really need to change the hosts file you will need to configure your antivirus program to allow changes for the hosts file. I assume there's an own setting for that.
Actually this has only little to do with NetSetMan. If another program is blocking changes to the hosts file, neither NetSetMan nor any other program or probably even you manually can change it.
If there is nor setting for this in your antivirus program, you can have a look at the properties of the file. It must not be set to read-only. (%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

Re: Panda Antivirus blocks changes to hosts file
Thanks for quick reply. Maybe it is not the hosts file.
I can save all typical netsetman settings. when i try to change from the wired lan to the wireless lan via pressing the "activate" button,
the applying new settings Window pops up with following messages:
[0:00] Start Set2
[0:00] Applying new settings
[0:00] Adapter found
[0:00] Hosts: Start
at this point my Antivirus blocks all further steps with the message, there is a dangerous procedure and therefore this is blocked.... it tells me exactly it would stop netsetman.exe.
that means: if the hosts file is not affected by netsetman, what then might it be at this stage of changeing the network connection?
the hosts file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts is not set on read only.
I did include the netsetman.exe file in the exklusion of the panda antivirus search, so far there is no change.
Are there other files i should add to this list?

Re: Panda Antivirus blocks changes to hosts file
Well, I thought that you want to change the hosts file. If that's not the case, please make sure that the checkbox besides "Hosts" in the main window is unchecked!
Reading your descriptions I assume that this checkbox is simply checked by mistake.
