Set order of adapters - LAN
viewtopic.php?id=1276
Hi, please see above March 5th post where user requested Wifi mgmt. We are facing this exact same issue with LAN and eth to usb adapters. The default is holding onto unavailable device.
We have created workaround with a script to trigger on network change and check all devices clean up and refresh list so that when netsetman is opened it picks the correct device but this is adding complexity to operation and could introduce corruption, especially as we use autoswitch the system is running service.
We also noticed duplicate entries for same device some inactive/active but also active/active.
Thanks

Re: Set order of adapters - LAN
Regarding topic #1276, we don't seem any similarity. The request there was about the pre-selection of the WiFi adapter in the WiFi Management, in case there is more than one WiFi adapter available. Your request seems to be about network adapters in the profiles.
We have read and discussed your request multiple times in our team, but do not understand the described problem. What exactly do you mean by "The default is holding onto unavailable device."? Could you please record a video (screenrecorder or phone) to visualize and explain the whole issue?
We can't comment on your script workaround as this is not part of our software.

Re: Set order of adapters - LAN
Hello, thanks for responding. Have you got an email I can send to?
Yesterday in testing usb to eth was connected for 1st time and picked up as eth5 but after switching to local NIC eth2, it then didn't recognise eth5 for usb adapter. Reconnecting usb to same usb port or new usb port it picked up same device as adapter#2 and eth10 but was not showing in Netsetman. The only usb adapter was the original one eth5.
It meant having to use local NIC as USB was not possible. By activating profile it would go through using eth5 and display green ticks showing as connected but giving false positive

Re: Set order of adapters - LAN
It seems that there is some kind of misunderstanding of the general functionality of the software.
Available network adapters are loaded at the program start and are not updated automatically afterwards. After changing your network adapters, you can update the internal list by right-clicking on the adapter selection and clicking "Refresh".
Notice, that NetSetMan remembers network adapters that are selected in at least one profile, even if they are not present during program start.
Your network adapters should not be constantly replaced. Once you have set up all your existing network adapters, you should be good to go - even if you dis/connect an external USB network adapter.
If you want to send us a video, we would prefer if you could upload it to some cloud storage and provide a link to it. If you don't have that possibility, you can send it to the email address you can find on our contact page. Please include a link to this thread as a reference.
